Story
The Helly's International Guitar Festival team is excited to have the opportunity to offer free workshops with internationally renowned musicians to people from one of the UK's poorest regions during our event this summer. We are also keen to provide free entry to all our events to children under the age of 16.
2018 is the second year of the festival, which will take place on 7th - 11th August at The Old Cattle Market in Helston. Last year's event was incredibly successful and this year we already have an extraordinary lineup of performers booked, along with talks, demonstrations, interviews, workshops, free lessons... and the all-important chance for artistic minds to mingle and for people to make new friends.
The festival is a truly inspirational event that Cornwall is very lucky to host. It necessarily runs on a tight budget and, because our central focus is to make live music accessible to EVERYONE at a time when music is in decline in our state schools, we need your help.
Any donation you are able to make will go towards funding free tickets to all events at the festival for the under-16s and to enable our visiting maestros to provide priceless tuition to aspiring guitarists of all ages.
Contributions of all amounts will be very gratefully received, and there are some small gifts for anyone who is able to contribute a little more. If you are able to spare us £50 or more, you will receive a signed CD from the performer of your choice and a mention in the printed programme. If you can stretch to £100+ you will be given a VIP pass to each of the evening concerts, three signed CDs from the performers of your choice, a mention in the programme and a chance to meet artists of your choice (subject to availability).
Most of all however, you will be giving aspiring musicians and music lovers opportunities they might never otherwise have. Thank you so much for your interest in what we are doing.
