This is Aleks. She is 7 months old baby from Varna, Bulgaria. Unfortunately, she was born with ‘Fibular hemimelia’. This is a birth defect where her fibular bone and three of her toes are missing. Because her defect is so rare (1:1 250 000) it is really hard to find a doctor who is specialised in the procedure needed for this kid to live relatively normal live. The parents have been referred to a hospital in Florida, USA where there are doctors with the knowledge and the experience to perform that kind of treatment. Unfortunately, the cost of this procedure is way too high for the parents (250,000$) and that is why they have started raising funds to provide a better life for their little daughter.
