Story
On the 12/12/2019 my friend’s mum, Carol Aspden, died aged 63 years old. She fell down the stairs. Due to poor health, one thing led to another & her heart and lungs failed. She is still in the morgue since then.
She died too early for her funeral policy to pay out & the State won't help for her to be buried in a grave because my friend's brother, listed as their mum's next of kin, works (even though he is on a low income). The State will only help pay for her mum to be cremated, with no service and no one at her funeral. They say that it is "dignified". It isn’t.
To have Carol buried in a grave (as per her wishes when she was alive) it is going cost the family £4,000, a sum none of her children can afford. They can’t get loans as their credit ratings aren’t good. Carol wasn't ‘religious’ in the typical sense of the word, but she was spiritual. She took bits from many different religions & followed her own way. She definitely didn't want to be cremated.
The hospital won't release Carol until we find a minimum of payment of £1,500 for a funeral director to bury her. We have until the first week of January 2020 to raise the funds otherwise the hospital will send her to a funeral director's that will cremate her, with no service. No one will be allowed to be at the cremation either. No one deserves such a undignified funeral. Help us to make sure it isn’t.
Please share this page with as many people as you can. Help us raise £1,500 so that my friend’s mum can have a dignified burial as per her living wishes.
