Homelessness in Northampton is a huge problem, everywhere you turn someone is sleeping rough. And we can't stand around and do nothing anymore!
So this year a few friends and I (Ewa and Reece) decided, realistically what can we do? We were inspired by a couple I met last year one evening in the town centre, who were going around handing out a warm drink to the homeless. I thought it was such a wonderful thing that they were doing. Because although we can't solve homelessness, a cuppa and a chat may just make someone's day. You never know, it may just be the thing that makes them not feel forgotten about.
Ewa, Reece and myself decided that this is what we are going to do this year, we opened it up to the people we work with and were shocked at how many people wanted to join in, or help in some way. It really did make me proud of the people I work with and know.

The plan at the moment is - once every two weeks during November and December on a evening go out and give hot chocolate to the homeless of Northampton and have a chat. The more people that get involved mean that we may be able to go weekly. We will go out in small groups so as to cover more of the town.

The money we raise will go towards the costs of flasks, hot chocolate and paper cups. We may use some money to hand out water bottles etc.

All money left over will be donated to the local homeless shelter - Northampton Hope centre.

Some people have offered to bake, or make soup etc, which is amazing. Basically we will do what we can!
