Weʼve raised £4,770 to Help Danie and Stu receive IVF/ICSI

    Story

We are wanting to help raise money towards another cycle of IVF/ICSI (fertility treatment) for Danie & Stuart. They have had a horrendous few years involving 7 pregnancies in which they suffered 2 ectopic pregnancies, multiple miscarriages, and failed embryo transfers. Unfortunately, due to age, Danie did not qualify for NHS treatment in their postcode area and so they used all of there savings, with help from there family to self-fund 2 cycles of IVF/ICSI. Sadly, both cycles failed and with no embryos to freeze for future attempts they are at a loss. This has cost them thousands of pounds and need our help now to get their dream to have their own child and start family life as 'a three'. They are hoping to go to a different clinic and consultant for future fertility treatment.

Danie and Stu did not want us to do this fundraising, but as a work family we really wanted to do something to help them whilst they're in dire need of funds towards their next cycles. As friends of Danie and Stu's, it is absolutely heart-breaking to see them go through such an ordeal especially being in hospital during Covid with her 2nd ectopic pregnancy, and her husband could not even be with her. After seeing how much we wanted to help them Danie and Stu finally agreed to let us do this.

Some of you may not be aware what an ectopic pregnancy is; but since Danie suffering a second one within months of each other in 2020 I find myself knowing more about it. It is one where (for little or no reason) the embryo implants somewhere other than a woman’s uterus. Together as a couple, and with professional advice they decided to remove the remaining fallopian tube. This is a big blow to them knowing there’s no chance to conceive naturally again but they decided to start from scratch to protect them from it happening again.

It comes with anger, guilt, shame, loneliness, and fear. It’s the type of sadness that steals the joy out of a future positive pregnancy test and replaces it with anxiety. It makes you stop saying ‘when we have a baby’ and start saying ‘if we have a baby’ and I speak for them both, they have struggled with this for a long time.

It’s so easy to get addicted to hope , fertility treatment is the ultimate Russian roulette . Every roll of the dice offers new odds & a chance to finally succeed at the one thing most people find easy. But the greatest risks have the greatest rewards!!

Danie and Stu want nothing more than to become Mummy & Daddy and we need your help, together we can do this! Please, if you are able to donate to this amazing couple to have a family, create memories and share their love, then please, please do, however little! Every £ goes towards helping them reach their dream.

Lots of love G & Letty xx

So our fundraiser is going great & with help from our amazing family, we feel very lucky (not just on our just giving page) we are starting to look into booking consultations now & hopefully decide what & when but we still need your help to get there! Tonight we had a video call & look around one of the clinics, which was good to see but brings up all the emotions & fears back again. Hopefully we’ll get it right & hit jackpot this time. It can’t happen soon enough! Thank you for all your help so far, we mean it❤️ Stu & Dan xx

Good luck with your IVF. My daughter has seen a similar journey, she donates her eggs to allow others to achieve dreams and obtain free treatment for herself. Miracles happen, she has 2 sons now.
