Hello everyone,

Myself and Christie are student midwives currently in our second year of training. We are fundraising for our midwifery elective placement with Gap Medics to go to the Dominican Republic in August 2017.

The aim of our midwifery elective placement is to gain an understanding of a different healthcare system in a developing country, common illnesses that affect the population of the Dominican Republic and how this will affect women of childbearing ages within the population, as well as learning about the culture we will be living in for the two weeks elective placement. In turn, this will help us further understand different practices, health issues on a global perspective and enhance our practice as future midwives.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for myself and Christie, so any donations will be greatly appreciated and will help us achieve our goal.
