Story

Emily the organ is 107 years old. Not surprisingly she has been showing her age and she has needed restoring. The community linked to St Mark's Church in Hale, Farnham, where this lovely Edwardian pipe organ can be found, have raised £23,000, but during the course of the restoration, more problems emerged and a further £2,000 is needed. The restorers - FH Browne and Sons - trust us to raise the money but we need your help. Now the Farnham Herald has stepped in to help us run an appeal and anyone who donates at least £10 to our Emily fund will be invited to a concert in December.

If you donate and would like an invitation to the concert, please give your name and please then email admin@badshotleaandhale.org so that we have your contact details.

Finally, why do we have an organ named Emily? She was named after Emily Mangles, a generous local benefactor who died in 1912, and the organ was installed in the church later that year thanks to her legacy.
