I've raised £2500 to help Haben (19 year old refugee), a very talented bike rider, to buy a racing bike so that he can participate in elite and pro levels.

Haben G Hiwet came to the UK in 2015, when he was 16, as an unaccompanied minor refugee. Before reaching the UK, he went through a lot of hostile situations and environments of the Sahara desert and crossing the Mediterranean sea by inflatable boat. Since his arrival in the UK, he lived with a foster parent for two years.
Since his early age of 7, Haben had a deep love of riding bikes. He has always had a huge interest in Road Bike Racing. At the beginning, mainly due to the language barriers, he found his social life was a bit lonely and felt isolated. However, with the help of his foster parent, he bought a 'second hand bike' and started riding across the parks (Regent Park in particular) in London. He found company of other fellow riders in the park and made a few friends who then started riding together on a regular basis.
Haben registered with British Cycling. He started Bike Racing in December 2016. However, his bike is quite old and below the standard to use it for bike racing. Despite the circumstances, using the old bike and borrowing other people’s bikes on some occasions, Hasben has been able to win high points and managed to climb from Category 4 to Category 2 in a short span of less than one year.
Currently, Haben is training hard to achieve his dream of becoming a pro rider and hoping, in near future, to represent UK internationally. However, Haben is unable to afford a bike even with min. specs for racing.
Haben is a hard working young boy determined to achieve his dreams. We believe he should not remain disadvantaged and put off by the price tag of the racing bikes. He needs our support to make his talent reach the success it deserves.
We would like to raise funds for Haben's bike and request your kind support. Please help Haben, a disadvantaged but very talented young boy, get a professional bike that could truly enable him to perform his best and win trophies at national and international levels. Please will you help Haben achieve his dream?
