Story
My wonderful friend Katherine was diagnosed with bowel cancer and secondary liver cancer at just 36 years old. She's had radiotherapy and chemotherapy but it hasn't been as succesful as we hoped, although thankfully the cancer hasn't spread further.
There is evidence that a drug called Avastin could help but it is not deemed cost effective enough to be fully funded through the NHS currently.
Katherine needs a minimum of 6 sessions of this drug (possibly as many as 12) and at £1500 a session, needs to raise some serius funds!
Kate was married a little over 2 years at diagnosis, her and her fab husband have plans for how to spend both their young and older years together. Please let's do our best to help them make this happen.

Update: you fabulous people managed to raise the £9,000 for Kate's first 12 weeks of treatment (6 rounds) in the first few hours of going live! This means she can go ahead straight away!!! I have therefore changed the target to £18,000 to cover her second lot of 6-sessions which she'll likely need after that.
Kate has been blown away by your generosity and kind messages. Thank you so much to all of you xxxx

5 years agoThere is some fundraised money left. I come here to ask that her husband can use it to put towards funeral costs and expenses. Let’s send her off in a way she deserves! If anyone would like to redirect their donation, perhaps to a cause with a similar purpose to the one this was originally set up for, please contact me and I’ll have the funds refunded to you. Thank you so much for the hope and peace of mind you all gave Kate when she needed it most. Your donations and messages made her feel very loved and for that I am eternally thankful.

5 years agoWith huge sadness I’ve come to let you all know that kate died yesterday. She was with her husband and family and was at peace. Please accept our massive thanks for all you have done for her. The Avastin DID work and allowed her to have the cancer in her liver removed completely where it had previously been deemed inoperable. Unfortunately the ‘easy bit’, the bowel operation which came next, reviled that the cancer had grown much more there than the scans showed and she couldn’t be saved.

6 years agoWell done everyone for helping us reach the target!! It doesn’t stop there though! Kate no longer receives pay from work and will continue to be off for a wee while longer but really doesn’t fancy defaulting on her mortgage or having to move house any time soon! A fundraising event has been organised for her by a friend and ex-colleague Sam Dunkley and we’d love to see as many of you there as can make it! Get your tickets now, bring a friend, let’s make this happen!
