I've raised £3000 to help BVI Hurricane Irma sufferers, Rich and Cat, reach somewhere safe, and get basic needs to hold together their lives and community.

Emergencies

Story

Hurricane Irma hit the glabal headlines as a devastating Atlantic Hurricane. Of the many areas affected is the home of my brother, Rich, and his partner, Cat, the British Virgin Islands (BVI). But behind emotive news articles and pictures shared, and re-emergent pleas to recognise the causes of, and prepare for the effects of, these events, there's an immediate need to get peoples' lives back on a solid grounding. They have sheltered, feared for their lives, found their home a shell, and their livelihoods gone. They have been committed to and adoring of their community in the BVI. We have had limited contact presently and they are in the hearts of many who love them but are sadly half a world away and cannot, but are desperate to, help. Their immediate priority is to find their way to safety and access basic provisions, for themselves and the rest of the community they are sheltering and helping to look after, as relief efforts attempted by sea cannot access most areas due to the destruction. They are missed, loved, and desperate for any help to get them safe, secure, and able to try and put together the pieces of their lives and the lives of those in their community. The video is shot by Cat herself and shows you where they are and the state it, and they, are in.
