I've raised £5000 to support the future of Growild Nursery

On Friday 24th January 2025, Storm Éowyn ripped through Growild Nursery, a unique British nursery owned by myself, Lisa Wesley, and partner Andrew Blackwood. We grow everything from scratch onsite, all grown to organic and vegan standards in 100% peat free soil. We have one of the lowest carbon footprints in the horticultural industry. The bitter irony is that 100 mph, climate change-driven winds destroyed not just a 40 foot polytunnel and large greenhouse but our livelihood and sole source of income, all in less than half an hour. To be frank, we don’t know how long it will take to recover but with your help, we hope to find the means to rebuild the nursery’s infrastructure and better protect the rare and unusual plants we conserve in our collections so that ultimately, they will find their way to the wider plant-loving community. We are optimistic we can grow back but are also aware that, having faced the carnage that goes hand-in-hand with climate change, we need to build back better and make the nursery resilient to future storms (and who knows what else). We are not going to give up and know that any donation, however small, is a sign of support and encouragement that will give us the strength to keep on.
