    Story

Through my work in animal rescue, I have found that a major issue that is mostly going ignored is the plight of strays. Rescue agencies are being inundated with animals in need but I have tragically found that countless street ferals, strays and FIV sufferers have been thrown to the wolves and been allowed to die, be tortured and suffer further on the streets. Failing that, the big agencies - RSPCA especially - have abandoned them and put them down outright. I see this as a real tragedy and over a few years, I have ended up with over 70 rescued cats in my care, practically all from the streets, a few are rehabilitated ferals and I even have some FIV's housed separately, who are in very good health. Everyday I try to help other animals in need (I also have 18 rescued dogs) but as you can imagine the vet bills are high. Now I have never ever considered or even realised that there is a way to ask any like-minded people for any help until lately when a friend said about JustGiving. I am not asking people to carry the load but am just instead wondering if there are any out there, who may be able to just help a little bit, so that I can spend more on these wonderful animals (each with such a unique character) and less on the past vet bills that have racked up. I am not a charity, because most these animals are never going to be able to be rehomed, I have tried it and find that people get bored and throw them back to the streets which is more heartbreaking when you have invested so much time into them. I have found people to be very cruel and sometime it seems to know no limits and i seen the extent of that cruelty (cats shot with BB Guns, Ears burned with lighters, tails cut off) and am doing this really to see if there are people out there who, like me, want to give these cats the best chances moving forward and by having this funding i am able to help fund treatment for new colonies to bring them to safety a safety they have never known from birth. I am dedicated to this work, it is my choice and I am not asking for a handout, just a hand because I daily am bombarded with more cases and there is only so much I can do and only so much i can fund on my own. I often take on long term sick animals that are not viable to any of the big charities. In the fullness of time I hope to open a charity dealing with feral and strays issues in keighley and district because these animals have no voice and no support from those that do.
