**UPDATE**
Most of you have now heard the heart-breaking news that Jonathan passed on 25th February. Emma leaves this message:
"I just wanted to say thank you to everyone firstly for giving us hope, it was so very important to Jon and he was completely gobsmacked (which didn’t happen very often) by all of the love and support.
As am I today after losing the love of my life, my person, and the person who made everything possible.
I have had so many messages and seen so many comments, I’m so sorry for not replying to you all but I want you to know that I am so grateful.
We live in a wonderful community and I feel so incredibly lucky to be wrapped up in so much love.
Many of our messages have said that they wish there was something that they could do and there is, live life like there’s no tomorrow, put yourself out there, do things that are scary, take chances, don’t worry about what other people think, and just know you are all fucking amazing and deserve the best that life can give you.
When the dust settles and the weather is warmer I promised Jon that he would get the party to end all parties, that’s all he wanted. So I’m hoping that you will all be able to join me in one last hoorah! Love you all xxx"
********************************************************************
We have set up this Crowdfunder to help a wonderful family who needs all the help and support they can get right now. They would never dream of reaching out for help, so we are doing it for them and we hope you can all dig deep to help them raise their target and give Clem and Noah as long as possible with their amazing daddy.
Jon Sweezy was first dealt the devastating blow of being diagnosed with lung cancer in 2022. The family is now dealing with the fact that he has stage 4 terminal lung cancer. And time is ticking.
A scan this week showed that Jon's multiple tumours are no longer stable and have started to grow again. He has one last chemo cocktail available to him (which has about a 20% chance of working), but no other treatment is available on the NHS due to a lack of funding.
The family has been given the heartbreaking news that they could be looking at a few mere months, and not the years they dreamed of spending with Jon.
Jon has been referred to a phase 1 clinical trial (the first human testing stage). The problem with these trials is that they take a long time to apply for and as such, have not given the family much hope as time isn’t really on their side.
They do have some options, but these are all very costly. They could pay for their own immunotherapy treatment to see if it works, or they could go to Germany for private lung cancer treatment which has shown some success.
They could also try and get Jon home to the States for treatment. This is potentially their best course of action as there are a lot more options available there, but, financially they just don’t have the money to do so as the insurance alone would be about £1000 a month. And this is even before you take into consideration rent or travel etc and other costs associated with travelling to and staying in the States.
Emma and the kids just aren’t ready to give up just yet, even though the NHS seemingly is.
Emma says, "If we explore all options and are faced with that there is nothing that can be done, Jon has a bucket list he hoped we would have a lifetime to do. Getting home to see his family one last time is at the top of this bucket list".
Clem (8) and Noah (11) are the most awesome kids and deserve as much time as possible with their incredible dad. Please, if you can give anything, even a couple of quid, it all adds up and will help this family massively.
Thank you so much for reading, and for any help you can offer.

3 months agoI am writing with the heartbreaking news that Jon passed away yesterday. Emma and the kids are obviously devastated so have asked me to update you all as they just can't find the words at the moment. Emma asked me to let each and every one of you know just how much your support, kindness, and love helped them all immeasurably during Jon's last few weeks. This fundraiser gave them hope in the darkness and a reason to smile. So thank you. I will leave the fundraiser open to anyone who wants to help support the family at this time. Thank you xx
