Story
Hi, my name is Sasha and I am fundraising for the charity ‘Збережи Дитину’ ( Save a child ). From February last year, those in Ukraine have been forced to leave their homes due to the threat of the ongoing war, which the start of for many there was quite a shock. My family in Ukraine included were surprised by Russia’s attack, and were one of many families who fled to safety, leaving my uncle and many other brave men to fight for their country either literally or through the resilience of trying to keep important businesses open. Since then, homes have been destroyed and families have been torn apart, and some parts of the beautiful country of Ukraine have been completely obliterated.
The reason I chose the charity ‘Збережи Дитину’, was due to the fact that my aunt (who has now returned to Kyiv) suggested it to me. Once I read the charity’s website I realised that this was the perfect charity to donate for, as it focuses mainly on supporting children who have lost their parents during the war, as well as many other struggling Ukrainian families. The charity provides a temporary care home for those who have been displaced, providing them with therapy, food, clothes and many other essentials, as well as helping families to retrieve important documents to leave the country and find new places to live.
On the 30th of January RGSW will be holding a Ukrainian charity concert in Perrins Hall at 7pm, celebrating the people of Ukraine as well as their traditions. We would love for all of you to come, and join us to listen to some incredible music and soak yourself into Ukrainian culture. If you are interested in booking tickets (which are free) for the event, please go onto any RGSW social media account and all the information there should be provided.
Please give generously, and I hope to see many of you at the concert.
