Hello.
My name is Maks and I was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. I was born on 8th Jan 2013 in Southampton. I wish to tell you my story and take the opportunity to ask for some support. I was born premature in the 25th weighting only 765 grams. Unfortunately, soon after I was born I had to be intubated and connected to the life support equipment, which sustained me alive, cause my lungs were not quite ready and undeveloped. In my short life I went through two serious surgeries, one of them was an eyes surgery to save my future eye sight, because I was diagnosed with retinopathy. When I was three weeks old it turns out that the blood vessel PDA is not closed and then I needed another surgery. I needed a couple of blood transfusions, due to very bad blood results. I was suspected with sepsis, got infected by the CMV virus, I also had intraventricular haemorrhage. Unfortunately, one day there was a complication resulting of my heart to stop for a while, thankfully doctors were able to save me and bring me back to life. I am big boy now, but unfortunately I’m not able to sit or stand on my own. I am a very cheerful and communicative boy, but I am aware of what is happening with my tiny body. I love to smile and I love to spend time outdoors. Unfortunately due to my illness it’s difficult for me to take day to day activities. Thanks to the hard work with professionals my chances to achieve the goals are possible. I would have a chance for normal development and functioning in the future. I wish to play, run and jump like my peers. Without the hard work and rehab it's impossible. Hence why I ask for your support. The monthly cost of rehabilitation is £870. Unfortunately my parents are not able to pay for as many hours with professionals as I need, because my mom is my full time carer and so only my dad is working.
