Story

I am raising money for my friends little boy Alpha. Alpha has been diagnosed with:Servere global developmental delay, Microcephaly (small head/brain), Undergoing genetic testing (the suspect he may have a genetic disorder) & Suspected absent seizures.

A little background from his brave mummy.

Alpha was born with a cyst on the brain which was found on an ultrasound before he was born. We were told at the time that the cyst wasn’t anything to worry about and wouldn’t affect him.

Alpha never fed properly from birth and struggled to gain weight. We then noticed Alpha wasn’t reaching his milestones and we were also noticing he wasn’t babbling at all which was unusual for his age at the time.

At this point we were increasingly concerned and were pushing the NHS to make the necessary referrals such as audiology, ophthalmology for his outward turning eyes and the paediatricians.

This eventually happened when Alpha was 18 months old and still not walking or even making any noises.

We were put on a waiting list for the paediatrician to look over alphas medical issues. With a lot of pushing this took 9 months before we were seen (Jan 2025).

At the appointment is when Alpha was diagnosed with severe developmental delay. He found alphas head circumference was far too small meaning his brain for an unknown reason was too small. He told us he needs an MRI scan to check for abnormalities/ deformities and what the cyst is doing now.

Because of alphas needs we were told he would need to be sedated for the MRI scan and because of this the waiting list is a lot longer and we would be looking at having to wait about a year for him to just get the MRI scan appointment.

This means another at least a year wait before they can see what’s going on with his brain.

Alpha struggles on a Daily basis with being non verbal and unable to communicate his wants, needs or even pain. This lack of communication causes him to become extremely frustrated and causes him to self harm. He needs 1:1 care and has no awareness of danger meaning taking him out of the house is difficult.

MRI scan on the brain with sedation is approximately £1000 (can be more)

Disabled pushchair is approx £800 (depending which one)

Please help me raise this money they need and hopefully a little more to help them along their way.
