Story

Over the last few years I myself have come across many people who suffer from Dementia both personally and through friends. I never knew much about dementia and didn't no what caused it, what it was and if it was curable. Someone I knew had dementia, I once went to the hospital as I was a friend of his granddaughters to visit him, it then hit me how serious it was and can be. It was like seeing someone completely different and it was very upsetting especially for there family, it was like they had fogotten everything, like it wasn't them it was heart breaking, imagine your self having a family member or close friend who forgot who you are, forgot who they are, what they do. It made me want to find more out about it, I never thought it was so serious as I never heard much about it before like you see other charities about but I'd never seen anything about dementia or anything supporting it, when I looked into it I found a charity that supports Alzheimer's dieses, there are many different types of dementia, Alzheimer's disease, witch makes up to 50-70% of cases, there is also vascular dementia, Lewy body dementia, frontotemporal dementia. Globally, dementia affected about 46 million people in 2015. About 10% of people develop the disorder at some point in their lives. It becomes more common with age. About 3% of people between the ages of 65–74 have dementia, 19% between 75 and 84 and nearly half of those over 85 years of age. In 2013 dementia resulted in about 1.7 million deaths up from 0.8 million in 1990. As more people are living longer, dementia is becoming more common in the population as a whole. You can find more information about dementia and the causes at https://www.unforgettable.org/blog/advice/advice-centre/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwierMBRCHARIsAHl9i4Gz_JD6Q7eqJSw4DAIh7JaHRBv6xDBmUsBwM9bUQaghJbM8X3YiRr8aAvB0EALw_wcB I Found out there was no cure for dimentia but after seeing people suffer with it, we can do something to control it and prevent it. Please help!!
