Story

Ben suffers from Chronic Gastroparesis amongst other problems (Including Kidney Failure) which have developed as a result of Diabetes.

Gastroparesis is a disorder that occurs when the stomach takes too long to empty food. This disorder, also known as delayed gastric emptying, is a result of weak or abnormal muscles in the stomach. There’s no known cure for gastroparesis.

You can find out more about Gastroparesis here: http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/gastroparesis/Pages/Introduction.aspx

Ben suffers on a daily basis, for the last 5 years he cannot keep food down, has lost a huge amount of weight and is unable to work. Every morning he spends approx 2-4 hrs vomiting and is in constant pain, he is also a Type 1 Diabetic. Ben suffers from serious tooth decay from the constant vomiting, he has also been told recently that his Kidneys are failing.

As a result of all of this, Ben is unable to lead a 'normal' life and he is unable to work due to his condition.

Ben is often in hospital on a weekly basis and has recently told me that he feels at a complete loss and doesn't know how much longer he can cope with it all.

I am trying to raise £25000 for a few things to help Ben, firstly a trip to the Mayo Clinic in the USA for life improving treatment: https://www.mayoclinic.org/ and also to help Ben with a deposit for a small apartment, money to pay the rent for at least 6-12 months and to buy food etc. and to just to give him some support as he is currently living in a small caravan in poor conditions which doesn't help with his illness. Ideally I would like to raise enough for him to buy his own place and pay for the care that he needs.
