I've raised £4000 to Fund equipment to help Brian and his family fight Covid Damage!

In the beginning of March 2020 Brian Mearns was a pretty average 63 yr old Edinburgh Dad of two. Living with his wife of over 40yrs Gillian and working as a printer. Brian has always been an amazing Dad, good friend, joker and hard working- honest man. Basically a 'Bloody nice Bloke'. Leah 38 the eldest of his children is my best friend and very much always been a 'Daddies Girl'.
At the beginning of lockdown, Brian became a bit unwell then on 28th March he had to call NHS 24. He was told to come in and as there were no ambulances he drove himself. We later found out he was so ill he abandoned his car in an ambulance bay.
Then begain 9 months of horror for the family. Brian became the longest person to be in the icu With Covid-172 days. The amazing doctors and nurses fought to keep this once strong man alive as his body was ravished by the virus. His family and friends could only watch from a distance as Brian hovered between life and death. 3 times the family were called in to say Goodbye.
We believe its only down to Brians Strength, the skill and determination of the medical staff and basically a miracle- that he is here today. But sadly his body has been severely damaged. Everyday is now a challenge. He has to tube feed, and regularly needs oxygen. He has battled to walk again and mainly because of his stubbornness and sheer determination managed to walk enough to get home at Christmas.
I have wanted to start a fundraiser for this amazing family for months but they are too genuine and too humble to allow help and have constantly refused. Being stubborn myself and knowing they deserve help- the time has come now to help them.
Brian needs equipment now and will do for the foreseeable future. Help us to raise money mainly for an adjustable bed and for a new wheelchair custom made lighter to carry and move to help them be able to get back to some kind of 'normality'
Please help xx
