My name is Lauren, I am a 15 year old Secondary school student who lives in Coventry and I was recently offered an amazing experience through school. I have been given the opportunity to go on a 4 week expedition to Cambodia for many different purposes. The first being helping the local communities to build schools. Often these schools are the only place that children will get the opportunity to further themselves in life or even get a hot meal. And when I say school I mean these children will all have to squeeze into one classroom which is normally poorly built.
As well as this, I will be helping to teach the children English, which is often the only chance they will get to learn the language. Not only do the locals find this extremely fun but it may even help them to get a better job in the future.
Moreover, I will be taking part in some re-forestation projects in order to help provide homes for the wildlife, so far Camps International ( the company that organises the expedition) has helped to plant over one million trees in Cambodia. Also, I will be helping to plant crops so that the communities can sell them for money.
All of the things I will be doing will not only help the communities but their economies too.

I would love to be able to go on this incredible expedition because not only would it give me a massive sense of fulfilment it would help the people who need it the most.
