    Story

This is my inspirational & resilient friend, Michelle, with her daughter Charleigh. Michelle is a mum of four children - two of which attend a special school with my son George. As if it wasn’t admirable enough dealing with four kids and the challenges of special needs, Michelle recently went through a very tough time as her beautiful daughter with Down Syndrome, had a stroke and was in hospital including intensive care for weeks. During this time, Michelle’s husband had to give up his job so he could look after their 2 year old, Willow, and care for their teenager, Connor (who has special needs).

Luckily, Charleigh, 14, survived the ordeal & is thankfully still with us today, but the severe stroke has left her legs paralysed 😢This means a whole new set of challenges for Michelle and her family, not least the financial costs required to adapt their home and attain equipment, including needing a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle. There is support to help with some of these costs but for example, to get a vehicle you need a £3,000 deposit.

I think we can all agree that Michelle has enough to worry about without having to wonder how on earth she can find this kind of money, especially with her husband having been out of work. If we all gave just a small amount, £5 - anything - then it would soon make a difference. It’s not much on its own but together it could be life-changing for Michelle and her family, and would directly impact the quality of life for her dear daughter (currently they can’t travel anywhere).

When I heard about Charleigh’s paralysis, I told Michelle how utterly sorry I was. She looked me straight in the eye and said that she was just so grateful to still have Charleigh alive and well and that they would find a way through ❤️ I have never met a more generous and strong individual (who desperately needs our help).

And when I said, let me set up a crowdfunding page for you, Michelle was very hesitant and didn’t like the thought of taking anyone’s money. I assured her that everyone would want to help her, if they had the means!

If you can spare a few pounds, a fiver or more, please DONATE by clicking on the donate button now. Let’s get Charleigh at least mobile again & back with her friends at school, so she can rebuild her life.

Thank you so much for reading this, we really appreciate your concern and any donations.

I have known Michelle for just over two years, as our children go to the same school and we both have a child with Down Syndrome. I have always admired Michelle’s tenacity, generosity and indomitable sense of humour, which has so often helped me. Now Michelle needs our help!
