Last week, while we were in Berlin, Diego had a bag containing some of his essential music equipment stolen at the station. For a musician, this isn’t just losing a few possessions. This was equipment Diego actually uses to write, record and perform; the tools he relies on to make music and work.

Diego is a young Italian performer, singer and dancer who is working hard to build a life in music and performance. One of his biggest dreams is to one day stand on the Eurovision stage, and everything he does, rehearsing, performing, recording and creating, is part of working towards that goal.

The equipment that was stolen isn’t just “stuff”; it’s what he uses to make music, perform and keep moving forward with the career he's trying to build. We’re trying to raise £1,250 to help him replace what was taken and get him properly set up again.

The stolen equipment included:

Ultimate Ears UE 11 Pro in-ear monitors – approx. €999 new

Diego originally managed to buy his second-hand for considerably less, but replacing them is likely to be the biggest expense.

Rode NT1-A complete recording set, including holder and XLR cable – €169

Sennheiser e945 live microphone – €179

Behringer U-Phoria UMC204HD audio interface – €69

Rode windscreen – €19.90

At current replacement prices, that is around €1,437 worth of equipment.

Anyone who makes music knows how slowly you build up your kit. You buy things over time, find bargains, buy second-hand where you can, and gradually put together the setup that works for you. Having so much of it disappear in one go is just so upsetting and replacing it all at once is a very different prospect.

So I’m hoping we can give Diego a bit of a hand.

Our target is £1,500. Every contribution, however small, will go towards replacing the stolen equipment and getting him back to recording and performing.
