Story
Floydd has had a complicated start to his little life.
Our story begins when we picked up our little Dalmatian pup at 8 weeks old in late January of this year. At his first vet visit, we pointed out some spots we noticed on his head- the vet told us this was only puppy dermatitis, which is common. We brought this issue up again at our next appointment. This vet told us it was a yeast infection. Weeks passed using the treatment they recommended to us and little change occurred; Floydd attended 7 vet visits in less than 3 months.
Floydd was becoming increasing tired and had little motivation; we brought him back to this same vet clinic. They said he was dehydrated, put him on a drip and were going to leave him at the clinic, unattended overnight. We asked them to listen to his heart; it was incredibly fast, but did not regard this as an issue. We requested to take him home, as we didn’t want to leave him alone. Later that evening, we called a different vets (Langford) as there was no change in him.
Here we were told the news that our little pup, as well as his skin problem, had arrhythmia (abnormal heart beats), fluid around his heart, an enlarged left atria and myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle). The vets were unsure at this point if he would even survive the night.
The vets at Langford have been monitoring him 24/7 since he was admitted on Monday. He is in ICU and without the immediate drugs he was given, would not be here today. Floydd is still in a vulnerable state due to the unknown cause of his many issues. All we know is that we want to do the best to make our puppy’s chance of making it through this the best we possibly can. Thankfully, he is mostly in a stable state on these drugs. However, everyday brings a new unknown as he often slips back into his arrhythmia. We are all heartbroken to have to witness his struggle.
Floydd has gone through so much in his less than 5 months of life. Thank you so much for reading.

7 years agoThank you all so much for all the support and to everyone who has donated. I never imagined that in less than 2 days, £288 would be raised for Floydd. Last night however, Floydd took a turn for the worse and later passed away in the early hours of this morning. Floydd was a beautiful puppy who was loved by everyone he met. Although we never got the chance to watch him grow old, we are glad for the time we did have with him and happy that we were able to show him all the love he deserved in the short time he had. RIP Floydd.
