Our dog Lucy is a 10 month old Border Collie cross who was rescued from the streets of Romania by a UK charity and given to us. She lived on the streets, strggling to find food and water. She had never been into a home, never had a cuddle and never loved. That all changed when she came to our home. She is now well adjusted and is a beautiful well behaved puppy.

Lucy has a birth defect with her front paw. it is 45 degrees turned from where it should be. We have taken her to the vets and also the Royal Veterniary College for a second opinion. Both the vets agree that Lucy requires an operation where they will straighen a fuse the foot into the correct position. Without this operation she will develop arthritis, which will not be able to be treated and will result in her having to be put to sleep. If she has the operation it will mean that she will be allowed to live a long and happy life.

The vets have estimated that the operation will cost between £2500 and £3000, and as this is a pre existing condition is not covered by insurance. This would considerably more than what we thought it so we thought we would ask for help. Any additional money raised will go back to the charity who saved Lucy to help other dogs
