Story
Caroline is one of the most amazing people you could ever wish to meet. You'd be hard pushed to find a more caring and kind person. She always puts a smile on everyone's face. Caroline has a loving husband, Chris and 2 amazing little boys, George and Max.
For many years, Caroline has worked for the NHS as a mental health nurse, and throughout this time has helped hundreds of people who desperately needed support. Now, its her that needs our help and support, and this is why we have set up this page.
Caroline recently underwent an endovascular aneurysm coiling procedure. It should have been relatively straightforward as it only carries a 2% risk of complication. However, Chris received the devastating news that there had been a serious complication; Caz had bled in theatre and was put into an induced coma.
After completion of the coiling, a clot formed. The clot cut off oxygenated blood causing damage to roughly one quarter of her brain on the left side. Due to the brain swelling, the surgeons needed to perform a craniectomy, to remove a quarter of her skull to prevent further damage.
Caroline has been left with severe mobility, speech and cognitive problems and will be having 2 years inpatient rehab in total. This will continue at home, once she's discharged from rehab.
Caroline requires speech & language therapy of an intensity that isn’t provided by the NHS. Funds will be used to supplement any therapy she receives with additional, private therapy. This will optimise her chances of recovery and hopefully let her be able to tell her boys that she loves them again.
