Story
Marlow is full of characters and great people and even a few celebrities. But most of us would agree that the town’s real legends are Haji the Kebab man who is always there next to Higginson Park and Tony is cousin whose equally legendary kebab van in Dean St car park.
They are both always there at the end of a big night, as chefs, friends, problem solvers, and shoulders to cry on. They both work their butts off day and night to send money home to their family.
Haji’s not here right now because last week he was visiting his family who live in Southern Turkey in the area hit by the earthquake. His town is destroyed, and his family ( wife and children ) are now homeless. He’s gone to stay with his parents but the whole area is of course devastated. They were lucky to survive. Tony is in town but says his home town where his friends and family live has been devastated.
We’ve decided to send them both some money to provide help for neighbours and family in anyway they chose. But we couldn’t help thinking that they’re so popular that lots of other people might feel the same.
Anyone whose ever got into difficulties on their way home knows they are always there for us. This time we can be there for them.
Besides we might be good for some free chips if and when life ever gets back to normal.
