The girl in the photo is my daughter Mia. The cute, adorable puppy is Bear from CAL Autism Assistance Dogs. This is the first time they met and it was a life changing moment for Mia.
Mia has Aspergers and is a selective mute, she also has an anxiety disorder. So daily life has been incredibly challenging.

School was not a good fit for Mia as she was so badly misunderstood and continually punished for being herself. Needless to say, Mia has tried her best and is attempting to further her education at college as she is an incredibly intelligent girl, but never given the opportunity to show just what she is capable of.

Some days for Mia, the world is just to much to cope with with all the noise, the people, the bright lights etc.
So you can imagine how amazed I was after Mia met Bear and managed to walk through the college campus with him, and his puppy trainer Jess. When she got into the car, full of smiles, she said that it felt like no one was looking at her, they just looked at the dog. Mia was focused on walking the dog and didn't feel the normal high stress levels that usually come with having to walk through the college campus by herself. A real breakthrough moment!
I now need your help to raise enough funds so we can get Mia an Autism Assistance Dog. This will help Mia to become more independent and help her become more sociable as she has lived a very isolated life over the years, too overwhelmed to leave her bedroom which is her safe space. We are hoping to raise enough money to have an affiliate dog that Mia can bond with and train as Mia has a natural and amazing connection when it comes to animals.
With your help Mia can start to become the person I know she can be and start to enjoy and live her life with her four legged best friend by her side.
