Hello everyone. My names Harry. I’m 8 years old. After a tough battle fought by myself and my mum with various drs and specialists we finally found out why I’m so scared of the things that ither children my age love. I have sensory processing disorder, mild ADHD and high functioning autism. I can’t go to the park, play centres, cinema and swimming etc. The noise, the smell, the hundreds of people are too overwhelming for me and I have meltdowns that can take me hours or sometimes days to get over. I can’t go into public bathrooms because the noises and people scares me. I can’t touch certain fabrics, I get comfort from things that are hard to find in every day shops. I want to be able to play but I need sensory items. I’d like a sensory room so I can be a kid and enjoy myself in my own special way in an environment where I’m not scared and I feel safe, home.

Hello I’m Harry’s Mum. As you can see above my beautiful son has been and is still battling away. It may not be a terminal illness, but it is a silent disability. All of those things that make childhood great, magical and amazing like the one I had and possibly you reading this, he doesn’t. His mind won’t let him. He has no control. Simple things like going to the park, or even to a supermarket are ruined by his uncontrollable fears, his sensory issues and his social communication issues that his diagnosis bring. I want to create him a safe space at home, a room of his own, full of sensory toys, blankets, books, and a PC to learn. A special bed and bedding due to his needs with fabrics. Sadly I’m doing this all on my own and it has taken ALOT for me to reach out on a site like this and ALOT of persuasion from friends to do so. I don’t like to beg and ask for charity.

All of these things are expensive and have to be specific to his needs and it’s beyond doable for me at this point in time.

So this is what I’m asking. I’m asking that the word is spread and if everyone just donated £1 - I’d soon have enough to make my boy feel happier and have fun in his own way again.
