I've raised £4500 to Help Harry See

Harry is 14 years old, he has a very dry sense of humour, never failing to get a laugh of his family and friends. Harry would normally spend most of his time playing on the XBOX or watching funny videos, which unfortunately he can no longer do. He is now facing new challenges in his life as well as the struggles of being a teenage boy!
Harry was diagnosed after a routine eye appointment, he was sent to the hospital as they spotted something wrong and they diagnosed uveitis when he was 4, by this point he already had a significant visual impairment and they discovered he’d actually had cataracts since birth which hadn’t been picked up on. He started treatment immediately which over the years has included several kinds of biologic drugs which really took its toll on Harry resulting in him becoming immuno suppressed. Monthly infusions at UHCH, injections of chemotherapy type drugs at home, anti rejection drugs daily too. Also daily eye drops every day for the last 10 years.
Since being diagnosed Harry has developed several other conditions caused by the complications of the uveitis which has resulted in various surgeries. He had to have steroid injections directly into his eyes several times at BCH, a steroid implant surgically inserted into his eye, cataract removal and calcium deposits scraped from inside of his eye. None of which have had any long term benefit.
Due to years of treatment and permanent damage caused by the disease, Harry’s sight has progressively deteriorated, but more so over that last 6 months. He now has no functional vision left and can no longer play his Xbox which was his favourite thing to do. All this has been made more difficult along with his other issues of ADHD and Sensory Processing Disorder. He is currently learning how to use a white cane and the device we’re fundraising for would massively improve his quality of life and would hopefully give Harry more confidence in being more independent in the near future.
In September Harry's Family and friends will be climbing Mount Snowdon. We would like to raise £4500 to buy Harry a Orcam Myeye 2 sight aid for his glasses.
This will allow Harry the ability to do every day things such as identify money, food and drink, read from a menu and amazingly even recognise faces along with so much more.
We greatly appreciate anything that you can spare as we now times are tougher than ever.
If we are successful in reaching but then exceeding our target we would like to purchase some activity's for Harry to do in and around the home such as a Blind Sports Activity Kit or Braille Math Teaching Slate and Cubes Kit. any other donations we would like to give to the BCH who have supported Harry with all his treatments.
