Story
On Friday 27th July Rocco was taken to the emergency vets in the afternoon as he’s not been himself, being sick, non-stop diarrhoea which i have tried everything to help him. He’s been dehydrated by luckily have got spare fluids from my other sick cat with kidney failure which has helped keep him hydrated.
He was taken into the consultants room but we were made to look like a piece of dirt on the bottom of the vets shoes. Before we could even say what was wrong first words from the vet was you have to pay up for the outstanding bill for my deceased cat or pay for the whole of Rocco’s treatment today, which the cost was unknown until treatment started as he may of had to stay in for the night as well
As I came from work I had no cards on me & i had already paid towards Yorkies bill the week before, who I lost to heart failure at 5 years old. I had already lost another cat back in February to cancer at 3 years old, both bills were unexpected but I managed to pay off Joeys. But this month I’ve had other bills to pay including another cat to have his teeth out as an emergancy due to his kidney failure.
The vet wouldn’t listen that we have a payment plan & I haven’t faulted on a payment & I was giving them extra to what was agreed, also we hadn’t had a statement to say how much Yorkies bill came to in the end, as he was also fighting kidney failure at the same time. The vet wouldn’t even touch Rocco even though he could see he was weak, drooling & had an accident in the carrier (wouldn’t even help clean it from his tail & back legs).
He asked if we wanted to speak to someone higher which we did, this vet also wouldn’t budge & asked what was wrong but wouldn’t suggest any treatment that I could help him with or even touch him. They didn’t even have the decency to say over the phone or called anyone back, before he was taken in.
I was humiliated walking back out to the car, he had another accident & the drool from his mouth was bad. We were told the only treatment that they can give Rocco is first aid or have him pts. Yorkies bill was £1200 in the end, the bill is now down to £850.
I am to proud to ask for help unfortunately I’ve had to & it actually hurts that I’ve had to do something out of my comfort zone
Thank you for reading my story.
