My best friend and his girlfriend who live in London were out for the day, and upon returning home found their door knocked down. Inside they found all their clothes and photos thrown on the floor, all their electrical items had been stolen along with anything that appeared of worth. They couldn't afford to insure the belongings as the quotes were so high given the area and replacing the things that were stolen (totalling around £2000) would be out of the question for a long time given the high rent in London.

With Christmas around the corner, I wanted to try and surprise them by replacing a few of the essentials that were stolen such as a cheap laptop and other items. However being not particularly well off and the fact that he wouldn't like it if I spent a huge amount on him, I turned to crowd funding.

The burgling showed some of the worst side of human nature, wrecking strangers lives, but trying to help them out would restore some of my faith (and theirs) in humanity. Most people are kind so it is a shame that the few spoil life for us.
