Charlene and her family of 6 have lived in a two bedroom house for 17 years. With four children sleeping in one bedroom they put themselves on the waiting list to be re-housed 6 years ago. Their dream seemed to come true when they were offered a four bedroom house a few weeks ago. The children have sold some of their toys in order to buy furniture for their new bedrooms. They finally were given a moving date - but also hit a huge problem. The house being offered to rent is a new build and there is no floor covering anywhere - just bare boards. The family need to buy some lino for the kitchen and bathroom, underlay and carpets for the house and also pay for the fitting. The housing association have also asked for 4 months rent up front before they can move in. This dream that has nearly come true has turned instead into a massive pressure.

Charlene has helped so many people over the years. Even while bringing up four children she is always ready to help others. She is the founder and organiser of the yearly Christmas Meal in Paddock for those who would otherwise be on her own. Her 4 children and husband, Gavin, help out at so many community events, with their neighbours and make Huddersfield a better place.
