Story

My girlfriends dad Tom is seriously ill in hospital at the moment.

On the night of 23rd November 2018 we received a devastating call to inform my girlfriend Mazzy that her father Tom had been attacked on his way home in Bury St Edmunds and it was so life threatening that they didn't think he would make it to the hospital let alone the seven hours of emergency brain surgery that he then had to receive.

Tom, aged 71, slowly started to awake from his coma after 10 days in the critical trauma ward. The family have been told he has brain damage, but it is too soon to know what extent the damage is. It is now 3 weeks later and it is looking likely that he will be spending at least another 2 month in Hospital. Tom is still in a critical condition and also now battling sepsis. He is struggling to talk and his memory may never be the same. Although he is showing slight improvement each day, it has been a tough time on all the family and their lives will never be the same again.

Once Tom gets home I want to help him to receive all the equipment he needs to make his life a little easier. Such equipment could include such things as a special bed, wheelchair, mobility scooter, stairlift etc. and all these cost a lot of money. Hopefully he will need none of them and if that's the case the money will be donated to the ward that saved his life in hospital. I am starting the fundraiser at £5,000 as this seems like a realistic amount to raise. However, I have no idea how much money will be needed and so hope we can surpass this amount and maybe even get closer to £10,000.

So whilst my girlfriend Mazzy and her family are looking after Tom I have decided to take on the challenge of walking from one end of Great Britain to the other, Lands End to John O' Groats. The 1200 mile trip will begin on January 3rd 2019 and take the best part of 3 months. I really am not sure I am up to such a mammoth walk but I guarantee I will give it my best shot to raise money for Tom. Daily vlogs along the way of course wherever possible will be shown on our YouTube channel, Travel Trolls TV.

I have got to know Tom quite well over the last year and I know it is easy for anyone to say this but he truly is one of the nicest men you could wish to meet. A real family man who would do anything for anybody and never ask for anything.

Please help me to make his and his families lives a little easier by considering donating to this cause. Many thanks for listening.
