Story
Kirsty McCloskey (21) was in her final year of a Nursing degree at Dundee University and a member of DUSWPC. In November 2019, she suddenly began to experience debilitating headaches, vomiting, visual distortion, numbness and difficulties balancing. She was diagnosed with severe migraines and the condition came and went, returning with a vengeance in January 2020. A scan at Perth Royal Infirmary on 5th February 2020 discovered a tumour the size of a satsuma on her brain stem. An emergency operation at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee the next day saved her life, but it has left Kirsty needing a lot of rehabilitation to recover her movement and coordination. She needs intensive physiotherapy and will have to do a lot more hard work if she is going to walk again without help.
We will be attempting a 10km swim as a continuous relay with our team within 1 hour on the 5th June to help raise funds!
Kirsty is a young woman with the rest of her life ahead of her so please help us to help her get the treatment that will make a real difference at this crucial time in her rehabilitation. Any support towards our fundraising efforts is much appreciated!
