Help Lilly Beat Malaria: A Fight for Life in Kampala

First, I want to express my deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has donated so far. Your generosity and support have been truly overwhelming, and words cannot express how thankful we are for each and every contribution.

We have wonderful news to share: After 70 challenging weeks in intensive care and two major abdominal surgeries, Lilly has finally been able to return home to continue her recovery! This is a remarkable milestone in her journey, though significant challenges still lie ahead.

My beloved sister-in-law, Lilly Gonda, a sister to Louis Gonda, Nancy Gonda Nesbeth and Andrew Flaws, was admitted to the intensive care unit at C-Care IHK Kampala - Uganda on 11/09/2024 with severe malaria. The complications she faced were serious, including liver and kidney damage, and a lung infection requiring a tracheostomy.

Current Recovery Goals:

Lilly now faces crucial steps in her recovery journey. She requires extensive physiotherapy to regain her strength after the tracheostomy and the extended period of weakness caused by malaria and its complications. Additionally, she needs careful medical monitoring to ensure proper healing from her major surgeries. This ongoing care is essential for her full recovery.

My Continued Appeal:

While we're overjoyed that Lilly is home, the financial challenge of her medical care remains significant. We're reaching out again to ask for your support in ensuring Lilly can access all the medical care and rehabilitation she needs for a complete recovery.

Who is Lilly?

Lilly is a vibrant 38-year-old woman from Kampala, Uganda, who has shown incredible strength throughout this ordeal. As the founder of Kampala's health food trendsetter kitchen, Kijiko, established in 2020, she has been dedicated to offering healthy food options sourced from local suppliers.

Why Your Help Matters

1. Complex Recovery Process: The road to full recovery requires consistent medical support and rehabilitation services.

2. Ongoing Care Needs: While home-based, Lilly requires regular medical supervision and therapeutic interventions.

3. Insurance Limitations: The real costs continue to exceed insurance coverage.

Your Impact

Every contribution directly supports Lilly's recovery by:

- Ensuring continued access to necessary medical care

- Covering rehabilitation and physiotherapy sessions

- Supporting medications and follow-up treatments

- Enabling proper monitoring of her recovery process

Let's continue to stand together in supporting Lilly's recovery journey. Your generosity not only helps her heal but also highlights the importance of community support in times of medical crisis.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your compassion and ongoing support in this journey.
