Story

This is Maria and her 2 children reunited after 3 years of being separated. She cannot walk, and hence cannot care for her boys, so we’re now asking for some help.

Each day after placement for the past month I have been working closely with Maria at a charity in Cuenca, Ecuador called Hogar de Esparanza (House of Hope). This amazing charity cares for people with HIV and helps them regain their strength and self worth after previous abuse and neglect due to the stigma within Ecuador.

Due to a history of abuse and maltreatment, Maria was in a coma for 2 months and woke up with right-sided weakness and Club-foot which means she can no longer walk.

Every day she is getting stronger and we do strengthening exercises each day to regain muscle mass, however what she now needs is a custom-made brace for her club foot. (See 2nd picture) costing £170. The charity cannot afford this at the moment, and without it she won’t be able to walk unaided.

All we need to raise is £170, and if we dont quite make it, I will match the difference. Any amount would be hugely appreciated.

Thank you x
