Before my mum was diagnosed with m.s she was working in a bank and had a very active lifestyle and loved life. She was then diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in her early 30s when my sister was 10. At the beginning of the disease you are very off balance and have difficulty with your vision. When I was born my mum was at the stage of her m.s where she was able to move from room to room using hand rails and had a mobility scooter for outside travels. As I've got older I have seen my mums condition deteriorate. I am now 22 and she is now completely confined to a chair unable to move except from movement in her shoulder and occasionally one hand. She has trouble swallowing and now needs 24 hour care. My dad is her full time carer and this has been our life for many years.

My mum loves talking and is very much sound of mind. To me this is worse as she is trapped inside her own body. She would love nothing more than to care for her grandchildren and to do the things a mother could do with her grown up daughters.

There has been a lot of talk about a stem cell treatment which has been having miraculous results in sufferers of m.s some even totally reversing the effects and returning their body to how it was before they had the disease.

My mum is now 61 and has lived with m.s for many years. She has always been a fighter of the disease but now she has no quality of life. So for there to be a chance to reverse even some of the effects this has had on her and allow her to enjoy life would just be amazing.

So we are looking to raise funds to send her to America to receive this breakthrough stem cell treatment.
