For the first 3 weeks of the expedition, I will be sleeping in a tent in the Dinokeng game reserve, Gauging province, South Africa. I will be assisting current researchers in setting camera traps across the bush to survey specie abundance and welfare, as well as identifying animal tracks and birds via their song. From this I will help conduct a habitat assessment and bird point counts across the reserve. Conservation management will also be a focus of the three weeks studying current management strategies and identifying areas of concern and as well as improvement.

The final week will be spent in Sodwana Bay, conducting marine reef surveys through a number of dives. Here, I will assist a species count as well as look at habitat deterioration.

The funds generated will help pay towards some of the expenses of this trips, such as the travel costs associated with getting to South Africa as well as accommodation and living costs.
