What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Story

Mel is a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and auntie. She has 4 children, aged 21, 19, 15 and her youngest son being just 5 years of age who in his own words, tells her every day “Mummy, you are my best friend”.

On the 9 June 2017, after suffering 6 weeks of headaches and numerous appointments at her local GP, our world took a dramatic turn when we were faced with the heart breaking news that Mel had a brain tumour on the right side of her brain. The very next day she was rushed into hospital where she underwent 5 hours of emergency brain surgery, with the very real possibility and devastating news that she may not even survive this major surgery.

Although this was lifesaving at the time, they were only able to remove 85% of the tumour, due to the severity of it and the fact that the tumour had already started attacking her brain.

Just days after the operation, Mel's world was rocked once again, when she was given the heart-breaking and devastating news that she has a Grade IV Glioblastoma Multiforme Brain Tumour which is extremely aggressive.

Mel is currently undertaking 9 months of chemo and radiotherapy, which, although this extensive treatment is painful and aggressive, unfortunately the tumour is still growing and all this treatment is doing is slowing down the inevitable, which is sadly, the loss of Mel’s life.

Mel's treatment options are very limited on the NHS, giving her a life expectancy of between 12 to 18 months.

Our extensive research has found that the only treatment to save Mel's life is Novo TTF and Immunotherapy, which is carried out at Charing Cross Hospital, is not available on the NHS & costs £100,000.

We are in a situation that without your help, the future is very uncertain for Mel. Any help you can give whether it’s with fundraising or a donation will go towards helping to save Mel’s life.

Sometimes, if you can just help one person, then maybe it's a life worth living and every one of you could help save Mel's life..

My parents & I would like to tell you about an appeal set up to save the life of our precious daughter & sister Mel, who has brain cancer. Mel has been amazingly strong and positive and even at this terrible time she still continues to put everybody before her own needs.
