Story
Walk through the streets of any University town, and you will pass students who are smiling and happy, sitting in sidewalk cafes, walking through the park, relaxing with friends. Behind some of those smiles, though, is a growing sense of fear and dread as their course comes to an end and they are forced to return to a country that is no longer home to them.
England is now their home.
We can’t help them all but we can help one by raising the £3300 needed to cover her legal fees so she can claim asylum … and stay safe.
Violet (not her real name) is a current PhD student living in the UK. With her studies coming to an end, she will be forced to return to her original country in the Middle East, and this terrifies her. The political situation there is very dangerous with beatings in the street for those who wish to be politically active, particularly for woman who are unmarried and feminists, but that is not her biggest fear.
She fears that the Stalker who has followed, harassed and sexually assaulted her in the past will attack her once again if she returns to her birth country . She also fears for her family being attacked if her Stalker and others find out about her asylum claim. She has made a good life for herself here in the UK, she is just weeks away from achieving her PhD and reaching her full potential, and she wants to make a difference in the world. She has made it through the first stages of the asylum process, and while her parents are supporting her through university, they cannot afford the legal fees to continue the struggle. She needs £3300, an amount she cannot raise on her own, but with your donations, no matter the amount, she can realize her dreams and become a true part of the community in which she has lived for six years.
She needs your help. Give what you can and change someone’s life. How often can you say you’ve done that? Share the page, donate, and make Violet feel safe … every day.
