    Story

Thank you for visiting my page.

My mother is extremely private about our family issues, hence the anonymous nature of the page.

For as long as I remember my father has always been a drinker, but always had a good job and good friends around him. This all changed 3 years ago. He had worked at the same company all his life but due to economic changes they decided to make him redundant. His life suddenly changed and the friends he had from work soon disappeared. This was when we noticed he had started drink more than ever before, over the next couple of months he lost his driving license and turned extremely depressed. Every job he got would soon end due to his depression and drinking. As family, me, my mother and my younger brother tried to talk to him to help but nothing we could do would change him. My mother works very long hours and often is away for weeks at a time, to try and support the family home without an income from my father. This left the strain more on me and my brother, which was hard for us both. We would regularly have to pick him up off the floor and put him to bed.

6 months ago I saw a change in my brothers behaviour and after speaking with him, it came to light that he had become so depressed with his life and feeling helpless with my father, he had foolishly turned to gambling in order to ‘win enough so mum can stop working so much’. Heartbreaking for any older brother to hear, and the fact that he had actually got himself into serious levels of debt (£10000). My mother used her savings to pay this back and is now monitoring his cards and accounts.

My father has now agreed he needs serious help and wants to overcome his addiction but without any savings left I am looking raise the required funds needed to get him help.

Please give anything you can to help me achieve this goal and free my family from the effects of an alcoholic parent.

Thank you so much in advance
