I've raised £300 to help Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Nicaragua repair parts of the church damaged by violence, bullets and unrest.

Helping Nicaragua
I’ll be completing a sponsored walk to help raise money for Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Managua, Nicaragua.
Over the past 4 months, protests to Government reforms have seen a rise in violence from the dictator leader. Although the protests were peaceful, the response from the government was not. Huge crowds have been gathering for months on end, demanding the president to step down. The protesters received a violent response, with many people shot, arrested and beaten. it has been reported that over 300 have been killed, over 2000 injured and hundreds still missing/imprisoned.
Why was the church attacked?
Divine Mercy, among many churches, offered shelter to hundreds of people throughout the violence and as a result, paramilitary forces shot until they left. They provide refuge and protection for those in danger. The attacks caused considerable damage do doors, roofs and windows through the church, making it difficult for the church to function on a weekly basis. Currently, they are dealing with the damage, however this will not be the case when they enter the rainy season.
The status and position if the country is out of my hands, however I can try and help those in need. The church offers guidance, hope and comfort for many people through these tough times. They should not have to suffer for trying to create peace. This sponsored walk is giving me the chance to help!
Any donation of any size would go a long way in helping rebuild parts of the church.
The walk will follow the London Marathon route, taking me from Blackheath to Westminster.
