Mini Motley Sanctuary CIC is a safe haven for animals rescued from slaughter & traumatic beginnings. Every winter the sanctuary hits hard times and we find ourselves struggling to cover the increased costs of looking after high-needs rescue animals in the challenging weather.

This winter, we're facing new and additional challenges. Our high needs miniature ponies need access to a grass free paddock but excessive rainfall turns the area into a muddy mire! We need to put measures in place asap, to prevent the paddock from becoming unuseable in the worsening weather. We need to buy specialised 'mud mats' to cover the area and provide a barrier against the wet mud. Unfortunately these specialist mats are expensive, so we are asking for help to buy enough mats to cover the whole paddock. We have an estimated costing of £5,000 to cover this vital adaptation.

We are facing a continuing hay shortage crisis, meaning that the cost of hay has doubled and the cost of delivering hay has also tripled due to the fuel crisis. This dramatic increase in costs is a financial burden that we couldn't have foreseen and sadly means we need to ask for help to fund our hay deliveries and sanctuary supplies.

5 heatwaves and a drought have left our fields bare of grass, so we're in need of more hay than usual to keep our rescue animals fed, happy and healthy - unfortunately doubling our usual hay deliveries!

Because of the harsh treatment some of our animals experienced before coming to the sanctuary, they have increasingly complex needs which, as they age, need more intensive care. Two of our ponies now have EMS, a metabolic condition requiring medication and regular blood tests, as well as an intensive daily maintenance plan. We believe - especially after their early trauma - that they deserve the best, kindest treatment for the rest of their lives. Unfortunately the veterinary treatment is extremely expensive, which puts extra financial pressure on the sanctuary's finances. We'd be so grateful for any donations towards these ongoing sanctuary care costs.

We are a mother daughter team, running our sanctuary just the two of us. We share a deep love of animals and have a breadth of knowledge and experience of animal welfare, care and nutrition.
