We are desperately hoping for help with a delicate situation. We have, in our care, taken two African Grey parrots after the sudden death of their elderly owner. Their owner presumed that a verbal agreement to take care of his animals in the event of his death was sufficient. Both birds, kept separately, are very aggressive and not really tame. One of them has been stress plucking and they are both extremely stressed with the events of the last few days.

On talking to family, they are wanting to sell the birds to help towards the cost of the funeral, however the birds really are in no condition to be sold because of their physical health and their aggressive nature. As a charity our committee members have agreed to honour the gentleman's wishes and we are proposing to make a donation to the family to help with the costs of the funeral with the agreement that the birds will be signed over to us.

They will receive the care and attention necessary to get them back to full health so that they can live the rest of their many years as comfortably and happily as they can.
