Last year Gerard and I did some fundraising to build a fit-for-purpose nursery school in a rural community in Gambia. Since November 2017 we've built the new three room school with deeper foundations in order to extend upwards if needed one day.

We're trying to raise money to complete the finishing of the school building. We're currently plastering the exterior walls in concrete to make them rainproof. But we still need to finish –

- interior plastering of the three classrooms

- tiling of all floors and veranda area

- furnishing of the classrooms with tables and chairs (45 kids per class)

- fabrication of the steel windows and doors

- the building of a teachers office and storeroom

In the space of just one year we've already built a fresh water well for the school and a three cubicle toilet block for the children and teachers. Previously there was no provision for either.

The children are being temporarily educated in an unfinished house. We're so close to finishing and would like the children to return to their brand new fit-for-purpose school ASAP.

Many of you are closely following the progress of the project and have already given generously to get us this far. We can't thank you enough - RESPECT!!!

Friends, colleagues and acquaintances - some of you have expressed an interest in helping with the project - what about helping right NOW by giving a donation OR by doing a little fundraising on our behalf - a cake sale at your kids school / a sponsored walk or run / selling some designer shoes on Ebay / auctioning off a piece of artwork / a community collection or a car boot sale... I'm sure all of you have clothes, shoes and accessories that you no longer wear or need - please pop them on Ebay or donate them to me and I'll pop them on Ebay!!
