According to Lebanon’s history, Beirut was destroyed and rebuilt seven times during its 5,000-year history. But this life-loving city always found ways to come back, always as beautiful and charming.
Beirut is where the East meets the West, creating a spicy mix of Mediterranean charm, Cosmopolitan Vibe, and Arabic heritage.
Being half Lebanese, I had the chance to visit Beirut many times throughout my childhood. Yet, it is enough to visit this charming city once to fall in love with it and its resilient life-loving people.
The disastrous explosion of August 4th, 2020 left the city with thousands of dead, injured, missing, and more than 300,000 displaced people after 100s of buildings were either leveled down or suffered extensive damage.
That disaster could not hit at the worst time. The financial crisis hitting the country in Q4 2019, the collapse of the banking system in Q1 2020, & the arrival of COVID-19 pandemic in Q2 2020, left the Lebanese government crippled and unable to support its citizens.
Beirut can’t survive this alone. Beirut urgently needs all the help it can get. Our call for help is for the Lebanese diaspora across the world, as well as to the generous heroes of the free world. You!
We are launching this fundraising campaign, with the support of CASABAYT & INNOVEST to help one of the most vulnerable segments that is suffering from this catastrophe - our children - who lost their homes. They deserve to sleep safely.
The fund will be used in organizing temporary residences for children who have been made homeless while renovating their homes.
CASABAYT will support in the selection criteria and commissioning of the contractors, while INNOVEST will apply its financial-control measures to vet the process and ensure the application of proper governance on the spent of the funds.
We have a strong belief that goodness will always prevail. The earth is but one country and mankind its citizens.
