I've raised £4000 to send Thomas to the 25th World Scout Jamboree in South Korea August 2023

Hi I’m Tom from 1st Catterick Garrison Scout Troop, Richmond, North Yorkshire.
Richmondshire Scout District in North Yorkshire is geographically one of the largest rural Scout Districts in England
It has a unique connection with the founder of Scouting, Robert Baden Powell, who was stationed at Richmond Castle as its commander and was involved in the setting up of Catterick Garrison for the British Army.
Just before Christmas I sent in an application along with, it turned out, 300 others in North Yorkshire for a place in Unit 41 on #25WSJ
I managed to make the selection weekend of 90, and amazingly I succeeded in getting 1 of 36 places and I am the only Scout selected to represent Richmondshire.
And now I need your help to raise the best part of £4K to get me and others over to South Korea In August 2023
At the weekend I attended the first Unit camp, where we came together as a group for the first time. We got to know each other, our leaders, we came up with our code of conduct and worked on how we are going to fundraise individually and as a group. Finally we were all presented with our neckers.
We decided on our unit name and designed our emblem. From here on in, we will be known as the
World Scout Jamborees happen every 4 years, and I am one of the lucky 3,240 that have been chosen from the UK to join nearly 50,000 young people taking part from all over the World at the 25th Jamboree.
The World Scout Jamboree offers young people the chance to learn new skills, that they can use in other aspects of their life as well as campaign for change on key world issues that matter to them.
Between now and July 2023 I will attend training camps and team building events, preparing for living on the hot and humid site in SaeManGeum, check out the video on YouTube to see just how this is evolving, they are building the while site from scratch, ready to house 50,000 young people and their leaders https://youtu.be/kftzVkGBAjQ
As you can imagine, all of this will not come free, you have to fundraise all of the money required to participate in this incredible experience.
The amount to be raised is £4K per person, so a great amount of commitment will have to go into reaching this target. A proportion of the money raised goes towards helping disadvantaged people in poorer, less fortunate situations and countries, to aid them in still being able to afford and attend the World Scout Jamboree.
So really, I am fundraising for Scouts from developing countries just as much as for myself, for this amazing opportunity to globally connect, interact and pass on what I’ve learned to others on my return.
Thank you so much for reading to the end and really hope you can help me.
