Weʼve raised £3,100 to Create 3D print face shields for our NHS staff and key workers, to assist with the national shortage of PPE.

Story
The response we received from our call out on Facebook for key workers in need of PPE was phenomenal so we were wondering whether it would be worthwhile crowd funding to be able to purchase more materials to be able to manufacture more.
So far, local midwifery services, undertakers and care home staff have benefited from the first big batch of shields but we received so many requests we need to make more!
We've so far invested around £1000 which includes purchasing two new printers and reels of filament but in order to create more we need help. Obviously these are incredibly uncertain times but if you could donate anything at all it would all be for such a worthwhile cause.
A single face shield costs around 58p to make so every penny counts. These are made using PETG which means they are reusable if wiped down and sanitised.
This is a not for profit venture, all funds raised will be used to purchase materials so that more face shields can be made and given to those that really need them.
If we raise enough to purchase more printers our plan is to donate to a local school or organisation when this is all over so others can benefit from this fabulous technology.
Please email copy this link into your browser which will take you to an online order form. We're getting lots of requests so this way we can keep track and give you a lead time.

4 years agoWe just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far or shared our journey with people who so desperately need PPE. We've set 4 new printers up now so between our household and our friends and maker's Paul Silver and his family - who are also on a printing mission - we are able to produce *hundreds* daily! This is going to make sure a huge difference. We've been honoured to help in our small way and wouldn't be able to have done this without each generous donation. So a huge thanks from us to you.

4 years agoThe two new printers have been set up and are currently on the dining room table whilst calibrations and settings are configured. Our 7-year-old thinks that if they remain here, his home schooling days are over! Sorry bud! He has been a little superstar though, getting up early to set prints off, keeping an eye on the temperature and packing orders. Rich, as ever, has been working his socks off, whilst Margot and myself have been making sure they get plenty of chocolate breaks.

4 years agoWOW! We are both absolutely blown away with the response so far! In less than 24 hours we've raised £1300 which is just incredible. Thank you so much - this is going to help so many people. So far, we've been able to order an additional two 3D printers and have received confirmation that they've been dispatched. This means we can double our output and manufacture more very much needed PPE. I've raised the target slightly as the more we make, the more materials we'll need so please help spread the word so we can help keep our key workers safe!
