WORTHING RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB

To Members, Supporters and friends of Worthing RFC and our local Community,

We are Raising £50,000 to support the club as it approaches it’s Centenary year – can you help us?

In May we launched our Centenary Appeal Fund and to date we have achieved a fantastic 11% of our £50,000 target! The money raised so far has allowed us to provide materials to start a much needed renovation of both the Club House and Grounds. The transformation provided by redecorating the interior of the club house including led lighting as well as works around the ground including the trimming back of trees is huge but we still have a way to go both to reach the target, and in what works need to be completed at the club.

Some large tasks are ahead of us that are costly but essential if we are to provide the best facilities for our members. These include replacement of the unusual club house roof, boiler and floodlight posts. The cost of these is in the region of £45,000 so we need more than ever to achieve out Centenary appeal target of £50,000!

Come 10th September 2020, the Club will have been established for an amazing 100 years!

This is a time for us all to celebrate the Club’s achievements and the many friendships established over those years. We are a community centered club full of amazing volunteers and staff living by our Motto “rugby for all” with strong representation of both Girls and Boys from Minis through to Seniors; not forgetting our National 2 team the Raiders topping us off. We should rightly be proud of our club and the rugby path within it. We benefit from owning our own grounds and facilities at The Rugby Park, but now over 40 years old it also has the considerable costs that go with maintaining its 23.5 acre site!

In approaching its Centenary, the Club, along with many other sporting and recreational Clubs and organisations, face unprecedented financial challenges, brought about by the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and the enforced lock down and we do not yet know the full financial impact the virus will have on the club. We are however now able to train in line with the RFU guidelines and we have recently opened the bar which has been welcomed by the members but we know we have at least 6 months of lost revenue to make up for!

We appreciate that these are difficult times for everyone but we ask that you consider your Club and its role within our local Community and its value and benefit, to help sustaining it for it for the future.
