Jihad and Nidal are two brothers living in the Palestinian refugee camp of Shatila in Beirut, Lebanon. Living in difficult conditions and facing daily discrimination, life for Palestinians in Lebanon is far from easy. But these two brothers are working hard to improve their lot through education.

But university fees are costly and they need a little help to get to the finish line – this is where you come in…We want to raise money to cover their university costs for the next few months; any money raised over our target (which would be amazing!) will go towards covering the rest of Nidal’s university fees until he graduates.

Nidal is in his second year of a Computer Science degree and needs $4,100 to cover his next semester. This figure includes $3,500 in tuition fees, $250 travel costs and $350 for books.

Jihad is studying Psychology and is in his final year at university. He won a partial scholarship from UNRWA that secured the bulk of his university education. The scholarship has come to an end now and he needs $6,284 to pay for his final semester (this includes $5,884 in tuition fees and $400 for books).

In their spare time, both brothers doing translating and tutoring work to try and save money as well as working within their local community by helping with the Yaabad Scout Troupe, which is run by their parents. The Scout Troupe plays a key role in activities to empower young people in Shatila camp and both Nidal and Jihad have been heavily involved in its many projects (e.g. http://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/originals/2016/12/lebanon-palestinian-refugee-camps-initiatives.html?platform=hootsuite).
